MAN TGS is equipped with in-line six-cylinder diesel engines with a volume of 10.5 or 12.4 liters, developing from 320 to 540 hp.
In 2012, the truck model was updated and received modernized engines of the environmental standard Euro-6.

It is hard to believe, but the start of the work of the world giant MAN was laid back in the 19th century. We will tell about the fascinating and full of interesting
twists and turns in the history of the development of this group of companies in this material.
The prerequisites for the creation of this world-famous company were the rapid development of metallurgy in Germany. Then heavy industry enterprises were intensively formed, mergers took place,
employees worked not only on the implementation of plans, but also invented. Thus, the world’s first steam engine was born. What was the impetus for the rapid growth of enterprises, among which
were those that subsequently became the famous MAN company through mergers and acquisitions.
At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, two enterprises located in the German cities of Augsburg and Nuremberg are merged into a single enterprise Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg, or simply
MAN. But at first the activity of the enterprise was directed precisely at the production of steam boilers and turbines, as well as hydraulic pumps and railway cars, etc.
However, the collaboration with the engineer Rudolf Diesel and his ingenious invention reshaped the company’s activities. At the very end of the 19th century, the first fully working diesel
engine was produced at the factory in Augsburg. Taking into account this circumstance, the main efforts were thrown at the creation of a vehicle with a diesel engine at the facilities of the
factories. And in 1915, in the city of Lindau, at a plant owned by MAN, the first truck was produced together with Saurer. It was put on stream in 1916, but already at another
company plant in the city of Nuremberg. And here in 1918 already 1000 trucks with a diesel engine were produced.
In parallel, tireless work is underway to improve the diesel engine. In 1923, the first four-cylinder engine was produced, the power of which was 40 horsepower. Just over three years have passed,
and the company is already successfully producing truck models with 6-cylinder engines and a power of 100 hp, and a little later, thanks to the desire of the management to develop the company and
the availability of highly qualified personnel, the engine power has been increased to 150 horsepower.
And in 1927, the company introduced the first truck with a cardan drive to the market, and also demonstrated another novelty at an exhibition in Cologne — a series of trucks on a low-frame bus
chassis, while receiving the highest marks from specialists.
Huge success was waiting for the company at the automobile exhibition in Berlin, where she presented a new series of trucks of the «E» series. These trucks were remarkable due to their excellent
driving performance and efficiency in operation. These machines have become of interest to foreign customers.
A little later, the company presented to the world the most powerful truck at that time, the engine power of which was 160 horsepower.
On the eve of the Second World War and during it, army trucks are produced at MAN factories. However, the war years were not cloudless for the company. At the end of the war, the
factories were badly damaged and, of course, suffered huge losses.
Only in 1946 was the first post-war car produced. Five years later, the country’s first truck with an exhaust gas turbine rolled off the production line. In 1955, the MAN automobile plant was
opened in Munich. Seven years later, MAN production goes beyond Germany, it was then that a car assembly plant was opened in South Africa. Three years later, the first trams of the MAN brand saw
the light. The development of the public transport market did not end there. In 1988, a low-floor bus was produced. Here, engineers took care not only of the comfort of passengers and the economy
of the vehicle, but also of the environment. The bus was equipped with a gas turbine pressurization system, which ensured a low level of environmental pollution. And next year,
MAN block cars appear.
At the same time, the development of the production of trucks continues and in 1992 the company introduced to the market a range of trucks with a high level of payload, the weight of which
started from 18 tons.
At the beginning of the 21st century, the company held a presentation of a number of buses designed for the tourist industry, which were distinguished by efficiency and a high level of comfort.
Also, in parallel, the development of more modern and economical engines is underway.
To date, MAN SE includes MAN Truck & Bus AG, ERF (Great Britain), STAR (Poland), MAN Diesel & Turbo (Great Britain), MAN Ferrostaal AG — a division engaged in the
development and construction of high-tech manufacturing enterprises, MAN Latin America.
At the end of 2014, the revenue of one of the world’s leading manufacturers of vehicles and power engineering amounted to 14.3 billion euros.

В 2000 году концерн MAN Truck & Bus AG начал производство грузовиков TGA поколения Trucknology Generation. Вместе с этим появилась и новая система идентификации грузовиков. В настоящее время принято три варианта маркировки автомобилей MAN:
Краткое обозначение, нанесённое на дверь кабины;
Описание варианта исполнения для торговой и технической документации;
Код модели (номер модели);
Краткое обозначение автомобиля MAN
Краткое обозначение модели отображается на двери кабины грузового автомобиля. Формула включает в себя название модельного ряда, разрешённую массу в тоннах и мощность двигателя, округленную до 10 л. с.
Например, TGS 41.430, где
Название модельного ряда TGS является сокращенным от Trucknology Generation S,
Разрешённая масса составляет 41 т.,
Мощность двигателя достигает 430 л. с.Модельный ряд Разрешённая масса Мощность двигателя

MAN is a German engineering company specializing in the production of trucks, buses and engines. Formed in 1758, formerly known as Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg AG. The headquarters is located in Munich.
The lineup of MAN trucks
Starting in 2013, restyled versions of the entire MAN TGX, TGS, TGM, TGL range are presented:
- TGA – the model was discontinued since 2008, was replaced by more modern models of TGX and TGS
- TGX – tractors and classic «singles» with the maximum level of comfort for the driver, payload from 15 to 70 tons (de facto) and engines from 360 to 680 hp.
- TGS – truck tractors, classic «singles», dump trucks and various construction equipment on the MAN chassis with a payload of 18 to 70 tons (de facto) and engines from 360 to 680 liters. from.
- TGM – medium-tonnage trucks, including classic «singles» and dump trucks with a payload of 7 to 20 tons (de facto) and engines from 240 to 380 liters. from.
- TGL – low-tonnage trucks for local urban transport with a payload of 5 to 7 tons (de facto) and engines from 150 to 250 liters. from.
In the 1990s. MAN switched to a new range of «2000», including numerous models with a gross mass from 6 to 50 tons, and in the structure of road trains – up to 180 tons. This family consisted of light, medium and heavy families «L2000», «M2000» and «F2000» respectively, replacing the series «G90», «M90» and «F90». These trucks are widely used electronic devices to regulate the engine, air suspension, the position of the driver’s seat, the operation of the air conditioner, as well as anti-lock and traction control systems, etc. All cars have front disc ventilated brakes, steering gear with hydraulic amplifier, pneumatic 2- contour brake system, brake lining with wear sensors.
Since the end of 2000, a new «high-tech» heavy family «TGA» or «Trucknology Generation», corresponding to the norms of «Euro-3», is being manufactured. It consists of numerous models with new diesel engines (11,9-12,8 l, 310-510 hp), a mechanical 16-speed or automated 12-speed box with electronic control, all disc brakes, three computer systems and five variants of cabins with an internal height of 1880-2100 mm. This scale was awarded the title «Truck of 2001». At the same time, the IAS started the introduction of a new simplified marking, in which the «L», «M» and «F» series in the «Evolution» version received «LE», «ME» and «FE» indices with a digital pointer of the rounded engine power.
